In Matthew 16:18, Christ promised to build His Church. As recorded in Acts 2, that promise was realized and fulfilled in the city of Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost following the resurrection of Christ. The Myrtle Beach Church of Christ is a congregation of the Lord’s church. Its goal is to teach God’s Word and only God’s Word, and to bring New Testament Christianity to as many as it can reach.
Although the Lord’s church had its beginning in 30 A.D., the Myrtle Beach congregation had its beginning in 1956. Established primarily by military families stationed at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, the congregation continues to follow the pattern of the New Testament- the Gospel.

Growth necessitated the congregation building its own church building. The corner of Little River Road and 44th Avenue was selected. A brick building was built, and the needs of the congregation was served for the next 13 years.
1976
Continue growth, along with increasing numbers of tourists visiting the services, both meeting space and parking space became an issue that resulted in a larger brick facility being built on acres of land purchased from Myrtle Beach Farms (Burroughs & Chapin Company). The location was on the southeast corner of 38th Avenue North and 17 Bypass.
1998
In order to facilitate further development of its property adjacent to the congregation’s meeting place, and in exchange for the congregation’s building and property, Burroughs & Chapin Company agreed to give the congregation 4.07 acres of land on the northeast corner of the same intersection of 38th Avenue and 17 Bypass and build the congregation a new $1,850,000 facility at no cost to the congregation. In addition they agreed to complete and pave Wild Iris Drive so as to enable those attending the services to be able to safely exit at the traffic light on the corner of 38th Avenue or the one at the corner of 48th Avenue.
